Customer Rating: Summary: Best Headphone I've ever owned Comment: I've had these head phones for over two monthes and have been nothing but pleased. They are the most comfortable pair of headphones I've ever owned (comparable to the Bose Triport). I've never experienced listener fatigue even after hours of use. The isolation is excellent blocking out almost all outside noises. I can't even hear someone yelling at me who is right behind me. These also keep the noise in so your listening is private. I use these mostly for my iPod and they fold up and fit in a back pack pretty easily, though they are as bulky as any over the head can. My only complaint is the headphones tend to slide off if you lean your head forward or backward past about 60 degrees. Also, if you are in a hot room, your ears will begin to sweat a little due to limited air circulation within the sealed cup. Neither of these problems significantly detract from the superb sound quality and comfort. I would recommend these to anyone looking for headphones in this price range.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Sound, but they are big Comment: As others have said, the sound with these sony headphones is awsome! You get that crystal clear stero sound that you have come to expect from sony. The headphones are very comfortable, the earpieces are cushy and won't hurt your head, even for long sessions of wearing... my only complaint, is that they're bigger than I imagined they would be... They're recording studio size headphones, so if you want to wear them walking around on the street with your ipod... expect to get some funny looks.
The other thing, is that although the sound is good, if you crank the sound on your ipod all the way up, the people next to you can hear what you're listening to... you can also hear the outside world even when you have them on... I ride the subway every day and I can still hear the screeching of the train even if i have my headphones on and are listening to my tunes...
However, with those two things aside.. I think these headphones are awsome, and I would buy them again. And the other thing that's cool about these headphones is that it comes with an attachment that makes you able to plug them directly into an amp if you want to... otherwise you can just use the regular end that is the size for plugging into your computer and mp3 player and stuff...
Customer Rating: Summary: Comfortable, Good Sound and Quality Comment: I purchased a pair of the MDR-V600s about 4 years ago and have been really happy with them. They are very comfortable and I often wear them for hours at a time. I have been really happy with the quality of the sound. I have never had another pair of good studio headphones like these, but I would guess they sound as good as comparable brands and models. Even after years of use I haven't noticed any loss of sound quality. I highly recommend these headphones.
Customer Rating: Summary: great headphones for a great price! Comment: Now, i've been reading the reviews by a lot of the folks on here. It seems that some people will just never be fully satisfied with any type of audio device. You hear things like "I broke out my audio inducing wave enhancement reader and took a treble reading and learned that these are .009 freqency modulations below my model 123-XYZ headphones." And how is a review like this going to help me when i want to buy some great sounding headphones for my own personal use? Some people thrive on finding the teeniest most insignificant issue with something as simple as a great sounding pair of headphones... they'll never be satisifed with anything on the market no matter what. Ahhh... to be so self rightous and yet not be employed by anyone who actually creates quality products like these headphones.
Now, i'm an average guy who recognizes a great pair of headphones when i hold them in my hands and listen to them. These headphones are fantastic in all the ways you'd like headphones to be. For starters, they're quite lightweight and fit very comfortably. The earpieces are soft and flexible to your ear which will give you plenty of comfort on those long flights or roadtrips.
The sound is great! Deep bass and sharp clear treble with the mids right where you'd like them. Of course this is all based on how you like to set your EQ when you listen, but that's all up to the individual. No matter how you like to listen to your music, i don't think you could ever go wrong with these. I have had my pair for 3 years now and they still sound as great as the day i bought them! I had considered buying a pair of Bose TriPort headphones or these and after comparing price and sound, in my opinion these sounded just as good and were priced less so it was really a no brainer. I use these with my Creative Zen Vision M mp3 player and my portable dvd player on long flights and I'm just amazed with them!
If you're going to buy headphones just to take frequency measurements and sample bit rates... you'll never find a pair of headphones that truly meet your "standards". For those of us not living in la-la land, give these a shot, you'll really be glad you did!
Customer Rating: Summary: My second pair Comment: I've had a set of these for about 5 years now and just ordered a 2nd pair for use at work. The first pair I bought still sound just as good as day one. The only thing wrong with them is that the leather around the ear cups has started to wear due to normal use. I don't necessarily see this as a downside since I have used them quite a bit for several years.
