Comment: Well, not much to say about this item. It's obviously very functional and I'm left wondering why Weber doesn't just make this the defacto grate for all of it's kettles.
It's rock solid steel, quite hefty for it's size I'd say. The hinges are well made and it's quite useful for long-term indirect cooking. Good for party BBQs as well, since you often run low on fuel cooking a lot of meat.
I only have one complaint and since it's not really a product failure, I'm giving 5 stars: The thing needs it's own box to ship in. Mine came in a 4'x3'x2' (1.3m x 1m x .7m) cardboard box with enough airbags to choke a dozen donkeys. Get a grip Weber and give this to your suppliers in a form fitted box so the environment doesn't have to suffer!

Summary: Handy hinges
Comment: My neighbor has the "Performer" from Weber which comes stock with this grate. He uses it all the time to add charcoal and move the fuel holders from direct to indirect cooking. I figured it would be worth the extra 2 dollars to get this model(compared to the regular non-hinged grate) for my 7 dollar tri-wheel 22" Weber kettle garage-sale-special. I havent really used the hinges to their full potential yet, but I am sure I will once I become a Weber grilling master.

Summary: Perfect for adding wood smoke chips
Comment: I do alot of indirect cooking and use several different types of wood for flavor. The Hinged Cooking Grate makes it more convienant and safer to add wood chips or additional charcoal.
