Summary: Dud Grill
Comment: Amazon was great about my gift and the return. I received the grill as a gift from my daughter and proceeded to put the grill together only to find that one of the clips for the hood did not screw together. Then I realized I was missing one of the screws that holds the valve cover and both bolts and nuts that hold the burner in place. After all this I also found that the ignition wire was missing. I tried for five hours to call Charbroil only to get a busy signal. Then I was finally able toget through but was told that there was technical difficulty and to call back. I called back numerous times to no avail only to hear a new message to call back between the hours of 8a.m. and 8p.m. The instruction booklet listed the telephone number and stated open 24 hours 7 days a week. The next day I was able to get through easily enough as I called at 8:02a.m. only to be told that to get the parts I needed to either fax or mail a copy of the receipt. This is a lot of bull for a few screws a wire and a clip. I explained that it was a gift and I had no receipt but did have the Amazon packing slip with the order number on it. This was not enough and when I asked to speak to a supervisor was put on hold and then she typed a request for customer service which I have not heard from since. The grill is great and I have given two as gifts but will never buy from Charbroil again and would not ever recommend to anyone after finding out about their customer service.

Summary: Great grill for singles small decks and porches
Comment: I just ordered my second Patio Caddie grill today. I love this grill. I have had my first one since I bought it at Lowes in the spring of 1998. it has been holding up very well for the price I paid back then. If it was not for the lid being banged up and dented by family that was living with me that had not a clue how to handle things with out causing damage I would had considered fixing mine up. other than the lid being beaten from taking falls of the deck at my mothers hands after 8 years the grill would really only need a new burner plate and igniter. but I have decided to just replace it so I can get a new 2nd tank and good fitting lid. I looked at another grill at lowes that was nice but more money than this one. this grill is a proven preformer. in the years I have had it I have cooked chicken, ribs, fish steaks, more steaks, london broil, porks, lamb chops and more you name it I bet I have grilled it in this if you could grill it. All the stuff comes out great. Its good for up to 4 in a family but you can still use it at a cookout just keep food warm as you keep on cooking. its very efficent with the gas too. one bottle that came with it has lasted me almost a year. I did have to trade up to a larger new gas bottle when the law required you to have an OPD device in it in 2002 or they would not fill it any longer. new grills should come with this type of bottle now. the new 20 pound bottle lasts over a year between fills!

I do not know why others say its not hot enough I never had that problem mine gets pleny hot enough. I can see the flame too. the ignitor lasted 8 years out in the weather mostly with no cover even in the winter, I use it all year too. my only complaint about it is that the greese cup is a bit too small, so I replaced it with a larger universal cup I found at lowes.

over all this is a great little grill for the price. and the best value in a grill this size I can find. can't wait to get my shiny new one.

Summary: Great grill for single gals!
Comment: This grill is actually great for anyone who likes to grill but doesn't want to expend a great deal of effort! I "won" the Patio Caddie in my divorce, but would have bought one on my own. I'm afraid of the propane/gas grills for some reason & am intimidated by the large units. This little guy is easy to wheel around, heats up quickly just like an oven, & is easy to clean (rarely needs it). May lack a bit on the grill flavor if you're used to gas or charcoal, but it isn't much. The ease is well worth any change of taste to get used to. I've owned mine for 6 years & am just now doing a deep cleaning. Parts have to be ordered & finding that to be a bummer. Otherwise, I highly recommend this grill.

Summary: Great Grill
Comment: Being single and loving to cook, indoors and out, this grill was the perfect size for me. I bought it in 1998, used and abused it and left it out in the elements naked. It is still around today with the original guts and the igniter still works. I have dragged it everywhere in the back of my pickup truck. I will be purchasing a new one this year as it is really showing signs of wear. I will buy the same exact one. Bigger is not always better!

Editorial Reviews:

For apartment dwellers with limited outdoor space, Char-Broil created their Patio Caddie grills. Compact yet efficient, the propane grill offers 187 square inches of cooking space, ideal for small households or as a vacation home grill. Activated by a push-button electronic ignition, a 10,000 BTU burner roasts mesquite chicken or a half-dozen bratwurst.

The freestanding grill's body features porcelain-steel construction that resists rusting. Equipped with heavy-gauge porcelain cooking grids, the grill distributes heat evenly while cleaning with ease. A grease catcher collects drippings for simple disposal. Char-broil employed their patented Thermsulate lining to ensure steady temperatures, which can be monitored on the temperature gauge. The grill lid also includes thermostatic handles. The grill's body is supported by a sturdy plastic base and can be moved to and fro on the wheels implemented on two of the grill's legs. For the best care, clean the grates with a mild detergent and avoid use of steel wool and other abrasives. The grill affixes to either an 11-1/2- or 20- pound propane tank. A smaller propane tank accompanies the grill upon purchase. This item requires assembly and necessitates the use of a Phillips screwdriver, wrench and pliers. Hardware is enclosed with the thorough assembly instructions. The Patio Caddie also comes in electric models. A five-year limited warranty covers the main body of this grill while a one-year warranty protects smaller parts. The grill measures 22 by 16-3/4 by 44 inches and weighs 52 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling
