Summary: Extremely poor. Very in-accurate readings.
Comment: Don't waste your time or money. If you want a Weather Station that gives accurate readings, buy the Davis. It can be found for not much more than this trash.
The readings on the Oregon are all over the map.

Comment: Purchased the WMR968 for the price. First-off, plastic components on anemometer seemed cheap - they may be functionally fine but feel is poor. Secondly, the manual absolutely sucks! I read this in other reviews and agree. Get the manual for radio shack wireless weather station - it is complete and easy to follow in pdf format for printing. You can get from radioshack.com - I found it doing a google search. Thirdly, the anemometer quit after 1 week of use. Low battery indicator came on, I replaced back-up batteries and still no function. Trying to resolve with Oregon people. Get free weather station software from freewx.net (download the wireless version!). Connect to com port using 9-pin cable available at radio shack.

Summary: Seems solid
Comment: Have had it for a few weeks. Easy to set up. Using Virtual Weather Station to feed the computer. Tried to order a remote probe thermometer and there seems to be a big confusion over it.

Comment: The WMR968 was shipped defective. Amazon. COM was excellent in sending a replacement unit. The manufacture didn't return my e-mails or voice messages until 4+ weeks later. I would highly recommend Amazon, would not recommend this manufacture.

The WMR968 does a good job at tracking the weather.

Summary: Oregon Scientific WMR968 Cable Free Complete Weather Station
Comment: I bought this weather station Jan 2006 after sending back one from Lacrosse Technology. I wanted a real wireless station, so that I could put the sensors anywhere without messing with wires. Many stations call themselves wireless but the only thing wireless is the connection to the base unit.
The unit works well and has all the measuring devices the average weather buff should need. The unit has a very short and not particularly helpful manual, and I have never managed to get any communication with Oregon Scientific by phone or e-mail.
One drawback from several other stations is that you have to buy software separately and the computer has to be left running to store data to the software. Some stations store the info and can then download to a computer when it is turned on.

Editorial Reviews:

Completely wireless and simple to install, this home weather station tracks and stores data about more than 20 weather conditions and displays them on a touch-screen LCD monitor that measures only 8 inches wide by 5-1/2 inches high. The instruction booklet accompanying the weather station is easy to comprehend, making the station accessible to children, as well as adult hobbyists, gardeners, campers, and fishing enthusiasts. There are three outdoor sensors, each powered by a solar cell: an anemometer that attaches to a building, fence, or roof to measure wind speed and direction; a thermo-hygrometer to measure temperature and humidity; and a self-emptying rain gauge. (At least six hours of sunshine are needed to operate the solar cells for 24 hours. Each sensor has a backup battery-power unit that requires two AA batteries--not included.) A 4-1/4-by-2-3/4-inch baro-hygrometer measures indoor temperature, barometric pressure, and humidity, and mounts on a wall or stands on a desk. (It requires four AAA batteries--not included.)

The touch-screen monitor keeps track of the indoor and outdoor sensors, and also displays local weather/barometric pressure forecasts. Additionally, it has a calendar/clock, an alarm that sounds when sensors detect conditions beyond parameters set by the user, a memory button for retrieving past data, and an AC power adapter. (Its backup battery-power unit requires four AA batteries--not included.) The system can support three additional remote sensors and can interface with a PC. Additional sensors, the PC-link software/cable kit, and a long-term data-memory accessory are all sold separately. --Fred Brack
