Summary: Got to have it
Comment: XM radio is a must in our rural area. If you don't like country western music, there just isn't much to choose from. My husband takes his boombox everywhere with him and rocks on all day. This unit has stood up to the abuse dished out on his construction sites and he can get about a year's use out of one, despite the dust, dampness, and getting banged around with the rest of his tools. Worth every penny.

Comment: The first boombox I received didnt work quite right - when I put the player in the slot, it was hard to get out - the plastic casing kept catching on the swivel device- considered it a defect in the item. So, after contacting amazon's Cust. Svc.,a replacement was sent and it works great. Good sound quality and easy to use.

Summary: XM Programming top notch, SkyFi Boombox needs work
Comment: XM satellite radio is a great technology. Great variety particularly on the blues channel, great alternative on Lucy, Fred and Ethel channels (yes, that IS a reference to Desilu Studios). My kids love XM Kids 24 hour children's programming with their colorful radio personalities (check out D-Dynamite Super Sitter in the evenings). As with all technologies there are drawbacks. Delphi needs to go back to the drawing board and improve the Boombox features. Like some other reviewers I opted for the Boombox due to its portability and convenience moving it around the house. Things I dislike about the Boombox are:
-volume control is very frustrating use (when you adjust the volume it sometimes won't respond or worse go up when you want it to go down.)
-Radio cuts out when you use the microwave.
-Display is very hard to read at desk level in the daylight. You need to tilt the unit back to read the display.

Summary: Keeps on Kicking
Comment: I bought an XM Boombox about a year ago (when they were about $150!). I am a house framer and this unit is taken out everyday and cranked at top volume at the job site. The sound is great, and I love that there are no commercials. Never any problem w/reception, although some of the homeowners are uneasy as I only listen to Squizz (an explicit channel, love it). I also have XM in 2 vehicles and in 2 docks in my house, love the XM. The only problem I have had with the unit, is I go through an A/C power cord about every 3 months, due to wrapping it up in cold weather, and general rough handling. Original boombox still works perfectly. I order A/C cords by the two's, about $6.00 each and change 'em out.

Comment: Got it for office use. Its sound quality at medium to higher volumes is marginal. And it's lowest volume ("1" setting)is too high for office use. Not too happy with this product.
