Customer Rating: Summary: Great product but Amazon shipping [...]! Comment: I have a pair of the black and silver earbuds for my iPod and ordered a white and pink pair for my wife's iPod. The quality of sound and the bass boost you get is awesome. I have only had my pair for a couple of weeks, so can't comment on the wear and tear, but the sound quality is great. I got mine from Best Buy, but that was the only color they had so I ordered the white/pink from Amazon. [...]
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Sound But Fails on Intangibles Comment: I asked for these earbuds as a gift and overall have mixed feelings towards them. I wanted them for work, which in my case is an active and noisy setting. The sound quality of these earbuds are excellent in my opinion, especially for the price. Compared to the headphones I used in the past, these were superior. However I really disliked the cord set-up. The left side cord is shorter and the right side is intended to go around the back of your head. I hated it and it took me awhile to get a comfortable snug fit. Also, like other reviewers stated, the cord coating on mine after about a month or so started to peel off. Within three months I virtually had bare wires. Surprisingly the earbuds still worked, but its a pain once they get tangled now. I also had some ear irritation like another reviewer stated, but its minor. That said, I have had a hard time parting with these earbuds because the sound is so good. I've been looking for a replacement in a similar price range and based on reviews, I haven't found one yet. If you don't plan on using the earbuds in a real active setting (work, exercise, etc) I recommend them. The sound is excellent, its the intangibles (cord setup, quality of material, etc) that brings my rating down.
Customer Rating: Summary: Decent Cheap Headphones Comment: I bought these headphones because like most people I wasn't satisfied with the ones that came with my iPod. When I first tried these out, I was surprised how much sound they kept out compared to the iPod's. It doesn't keep me from hearing my roommate coughing or the TV but it does help me hear my music better. They also actually stay in your ears, and aren't much of a bother. I run with them on, and only need to push them back in every half mile or so.
On the other hand, I do not at all like the left and right buds having different cord lengths. More often than not it is an annoyance. The big problem though, is that after about 2 or 3 months, the wire's casing started coming off. I thought it was just a weak spot, so I taped it. But as time went, on more and more casing came off, and now they are so covered with tape it's ridiculous. Therefore I am turning to something with a little more quality.
Overall these are good headphones for the cost, but if you plan to use them a lot or wear them at night like me, don't be surprised when they fall apart.
Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty cool... at first Comment: I bought the MDR-EX51LPs to replace a pair of Sennheiser MX-500s that I had lost.
First of all, the "carrying case" that the EX51LPs come with is TERRIBLE. It's shaped like a giant pill that opens up lengthwise. The hinge is just a plastic crease between the two halves. The whole thing felt cheap and flimsy. I couldn't figure out how to use it so I just tossed it.
You get two sets of rubber earpieces to fit onto the earbuds. The smaller set is pretty small and fit into my ear without any resistance. The larger set required that I actually tug on my ear to line it up.
These earbuds put out a good amount of basic considering their size. The sound quality is great and the noise isolation is decent. It makes everything else in the room sound kind of muffled.
My problems came when I used these while exercising or listening in bed. If I did anything that would change the angle of the earbuds in my ears, the sound quality would change slightly. The earbuds fit very snugly so it's very easy to notice a change. It's like when you slide a pair of headphones to different position over your ears. I found it to be very irritating when each ear would sound different because I couldn't get the two earbuds positioned in the same way.
Another problem I noticed after a while as that the earbuds would make my ear itch. I clean my ears regularly and I always try to wipe of the earbuds after I use them, but that didn't help much.
Pros:
- Great sound quality.
- Nice, solid bass for a pair of earbuds.
- Good price
- Great for listening in bed. Since they go into your ear, they don't get in the way as much as regular earbuds.
Cons:
- Any change in position in my ear would cause the sound quality to change.
- Irritated my ear a bit.
- Took me a while to get a snug and balanced fit in both ears.
- Required that I tug my ear back to insert the earbuds.
Customer Rating: Summary: Poor quality materials. Comment: I really find these headphones comfortable and inexpensive. I'm not an audiophile but for me, the sound is fine for both audiobooks or music. The problem is the rubber coating surrounding the wires of these headphones are so sub par they tore and then began to disintegrate within a month.
