Customer Rating: Summary: Poorly designed and uncomfortable Comment: When sony bought out Aiwa, they should have kept the aiwa designed headphones (hp-x223), because they are way better than these poorly designed headphones. The overall feel to them is very plastic. They make noise when you move, and the cord on them makes noise as it moves as well. They do not feel solid at all, and seem very easy to break.
I have had these for 2 days and I can say they are VERY uncomfortable. If you look at the picture you can see 2 "straps" going across the top. One is a hard piece designed to keep the headphones spaced apart and one is a soft rubber piece which is supposed to support the headphones on your head. Well they didnt put enough space between the two, so the soft rubber ones buts up against the hard piece putting most of the weight of the headphones on that particular point. Unless you have a pretty square head you are going to have this problem. They also hurt my ears, im not sure if its because of the problem mentioned above, but bottom line is that you wont want to keep these on for an extended period of time.
The sound on these is alright, like everyone else said, there seems to be no difference between movie and music mode. The switch is cheap feeling and hopefully will not cause any shorts over time(i doubt i will find out because i will probably return these).
Overall I would say these headphones are horrible. I was hoping they would be somewhat comparable to the aiwa hp-x223 set, but are such a pain to wear i would rather not listen to anything than get a headache with these. Go buy the sennheisers! I should have...
Customer Rating: Summary: Bigger is not always better Comment: These pair of headphones look good on paper but I doubt if they are worth the money. The only complaint I have with this is that the ear-cups dont strictly stay adhered to the base and sends a lot of noise when using higher volumes. Colleagues adjacent to my cube can hear almost everything I play. Other than that, these babies are pretty comfortable to wear even when they look bulky. I'd have stuck to my old pair of Sony ear-buds had the cord been longer. Movie/music modes do not make much of a difference.
Pros: Sound quality is comparatively OK. The ear-cup covers the entire ear and does not sit on top of earlobes unlike some of the other models. Cord is adequately long for you to move around an office desk.
Cons: Sound escapes to the outside when volume levels are pushed higher. The external size can be reduced (the Bose models come a lot less bulky and still fits snugly around your ears).
I might buy another pair of these given they perform fairly well but will only be using them at work since they are not really travel friendly.
Customer Rating: Summary: decent sound, difficult to manage Comment: these headphones are really only good for home usage. they sound great but are huge and cumbersome. they do not sit on the neck comfortably and are not flexible at all. they may be good for some people, for example, use at an office or for watching a movie, but i was not able to keep mine because i need to use them portably and they do not have that feature. otherwise, for the price, the sound is great.
Customer Rating: Summary: Very very nice. Comment: I've had these headphones for about a week and a half and have used them a lot. I don't really agree with the "discomfort" reviews. I've dealt with painful headphones that pinch hairs and are too tight and have earcups too small, etc. I also wear glasses which makes the area behind my ears hurt if the headphones are too tight.
These were surprisingly comfortable. The earcups are nice and big so your ear doesnt get crunched and the inside is slanted so the back of your ear fits right in. These are a sort of "wide" headphone set so they fit without the too-tightnes. As other reviewers said, they are pretty big and bulky, so theyre best just for home use.
The sound quality trumps every other headphone i've used (including earphones which sound louder). I listen to music very loud a lot of the time, and am often frustrated that i can't make it louder, but I found myself turning the volume down with this set due to having too full a sound.
I also didnt find any majorly noticeable difference between music and movie mode with the small exception that movie has a bit more bass.
I was a little sad to see that amazon charges about 10 bucks cheaper than what I paid for the phones at target, but with this set, I can deal with it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Value. Comment: These headphones are a great value. They are big, with ear cups of about 5 1/2" in diameter. The sound is good, for me anyhow,(I have significant hearing loss), but very bass and full sounding. I prefer more treble, and cannot hear it as well unless I turn them up really loud. As for the movie/music selecting switch, I cannot distinguish between the two modes, maybe its just my hearing. The foam padding is very comfortable and I often wear them to sleep, seeing how the block out external noise quite well. Overall, considering the price, these are an excelent deal.
