Customer Rating: Summary: Fantastic headphones for the price Comment: My ears are really sensitive, so there was no way I could use the ipod headphones. Then I bought some $30 earbuds that were really comfortable, but met their end in a rather sad way. I saw the price of these headphones and thought, "They look cool and their cheap, but probably don't work well." I was wrong. These headphones have better sound than ipod headphones, and were just as good sound-wise as the earbuds that were over $20 more. They are not the most comfortable to those of use with sensitive ears, but they're tolerable. If you are looking for headphones that fit your ears perfectly or obliterate all outside noise, buy something else. But otherwise, you can't go wrong with these headphones.
Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome Earbuds Comment: These look nice. They sounded great too when they first arrived. In fact, I think they are a little better than the $10 Sennheiser earbuds in terms of performance. I don't know why, but these earbuds are comfortable for the first hour of usage but get a little uncomfortable afterwards. Also, I accidentally rubbed them against my laundry, which had static because it just came out of the dryer. I heard the static crackling in my ears, and after that the earbuds sounded weaker than usual. It's still pretty good, but I will warn you against static-y stuff.
Customer Rating: Summary: A great headphone for the price Comment: First off, let me say I'm not deaf. Well, not yet anyway.
I am a big Ipod user and found the Ipod earphones really fragile and uncomfortable, but have decent sound. They also have their wires stripped, so I was looking for a cheap replacement because I do stuff when I'm using my Ipod. I bought some other cheap ones but the sound was awful. So, I bought these.
The sound is decent. For headphones under $10, you can't beat them. The gumy material is much more flexible and able to withstand abuse. The earphones fit me comfortably, but like all things, YMMV. I'm able to listen with the Ipod at less than 1/4 sound without straining and maybe at 1/3 to drown out other things. Really.
My point is that if you're looking for a decent replacement for your Ipod earphones without blowing a lot of money, look no further. However, if you are having trouble with earbuds fitting you or want to really drown out noise around you, go for the more expensive enclosure-type headsets. Really.
Customer Rating: Summary: When is cheap not good? Comment: Yep, these are cheap. But at what cost to your pleasure and hearing?
First, if you don't like in-the ears, then move on. If you do, these are acceptable for the price- but all the Sony's I've owned have sounded better. These get distorted at high volumes and leak a lot and annoy others. The cord is cheaper than any Sony or even JVCs I've owned. Very thin.
They fit alright (Sony's stay in my ear better because they are ovoid, but also hurt my ear just a bit more), but 'gummy' is way off, unless you're thinking of a gummy worm left to dry and harden. If you want soft, try ones with the cloth slipcover.
My main problem is that if you are buying these for a kid/teen/heavy music listener- bad idea. These have their (limited) uses, but these fit loosely, so I have to turn up the volume if there is much ambient noise and this will definitely cause hearing less! I took the plunge and bought Shures ($90! - ouch)...and there are also Etymyotic and UltimateEars and after getting used to it they are great. The volume on my MP3 can be turned down by nearly 75% when I use my noise cancelling over these (the cheap Sony's are a bit better at blocking out ambient noise). So, if you can afford one more trapping of a materialistic person, then try a more expensive and safer headphone...if you are unable to, then these are not bad...for the price.
Do what you want, but if you're jacking up the volume to drown out noise, then you WILL go deaf and then you'll wish you weren't so cheap. (Plus the more expensive ones come with FULL warranties).
Or maybe you want to be deaf... 'huh, what?' I said MAYBE YOU WANT TO BE DEAF!! 'huh? oh'
Customer Rating: Summary: GREAT $8 earbud!!! Comment: My stock ipod earbuds started to die (one was nearly completely deaf, and the other needed almost full volume), so I bought these gummies as a cheap replacement -- WOW! Great volume response, comfortable fit with the soft rubber coatings. These are great little earbuds -- and I won't cry if they die in 6 months and I have to buy some more. And believe me I will!!. Depending how long these last, maybe next time, I'll buy a couple pair at a time (no kidding).
