Summary: 'clasic' 3 Doors Down
Comment: I dont listen to this much any more, it usd to be a big favret of mine six years ago, my tastes have of corse changed since then, but that does not stop me from recamending this as 3 Doors Down's best CD.
but, what! Why three stars?
Well, sir (or miss) it is one track that has the cingular distinction of kocking off at lest one star off my review.
and that track is... 'be like that', a song so monumentuly aufull that it made me cringe when I first heard it, with that memirable first line: "He spends his nights in Calliiforniiaaaa..." OH GOD, MAKE IT STOP!
Brad Arnold has a voice that fits the rest of this albume, exept, 'be like that' it's so flat and lifeless thair. Sad because the words have some meaning.

Now that that is out of my system, a song I realy thought was a real stand out is 'so I need you' highly underated, it has all the thoughtfullness of 'be like that' but in a sound that fits Brad's voice.

That being said this is a CD worth being in your collection.

Summary: Kryptonite is a good song.
Comment: When I was little (ABOUT 9) This was my favorite song ever so I bought this cd with my allowance. Itw as worth the 12.00 I payed for it but the only actual good song was Kryptonite and the 2nd one on the album wasnt so bad eitehr but all the rest of the tracks sucked ass. Don't buy this new. 3 doors down has been putting out a lot of crap lately. I'd just Download it with a file sharing program so you can listen to kryptonite while not supporting the band.

Summary: OK for fans, nothing for us explorers
Comment: Keep in mind: I am not a fan of the band and this CD didn't help. There are too many songs that don't do anything for me.
They mostly sound monotone and the melodies sound lifeless. This is not really my genre, but I do like music. The songs do grow on you after a few listens. It's a CD with great potential, and it's so disappointing they don't do enough about it.

1. One of my favourites. "If I go crazy, then will you still call me your superman". It's asking if the other person will be there. Very catchy. It _could_ have been more upbeat/faster. 4/5

3. This one is about being a drug addict and a loser (!). It's very slow and doesn't make you want to do anything. The chorus is somewhat catchy and fortunately it grows. 3/5

3. About being tough even though life puts you down. It repeats itself too many times. 2/5

4. This could either be about a job or a relationship and it's eating him up. It's an OK mid-tempo song. 3/5

5. Wanting to be someone else, if only just for a day. A slow, but very catchy song with great lyrics. Mid/up-tempo. Very strong. 5/5

6. Album filler. 1/5

7. "Passing away unto the better life". Why isn't the molody great when the lyrics are? It only stands out when the solo's are raging. 1.5/5

8. About poison, in shape of person or drug. Mid-tempo. Somewhat catchy chorus. It gets worse every time you hear it. 2/5

9. "Will you fly with me this evening?" It's a short song which doesn't make much sense and is not catchy. 1/5

10. It might be track 1 over again, but worse. "Don't you throw your life away". 1/5

11. Needing someone and asking her if she will be there bacuse "I need you". Not very original lyrics, but ok melody. 2/5

Summary: hard rockin' cd!
Comment: I bought this cd when it first came out mainly for kryptonite (i can't spell that) and after i listened to the whole cd, i loved all of the songs. This is by far their best cd. (seventeen days is a very very close second and away from the sun was a very big let down for me) I'm not quite sure what cd the editor was listening to but he obviously doesn't know good music when he's listening to it. I would recomend this cd to just about anybody.

Summary: 2000 Was A Good Year For Rock
Comment: "Kryptonite." That's all you had to say back in 2000 to spark a conversation about one of the best rock bands of the year. 3 Doors Down's debut album, "The Better Life" launched its first single across American airwaves in 2000 igniting a solid fan base and spreading their name to all corners of the country.

"The Better Life" is one of those rare cds that is so fundamentally good that I know the words to every song by heart. I've learned to play every song on guitar and can listen to the album multiple times in a week. Yes, it's that good. From the singles that were released (Kryptonite, Loser, Be Like that (From American Pie), Duck and Run, and Not Enough) to the songs that should have been (So I Need You, Smack, The Better Life, and By My Side). The only song that doesn't really fit with the flow of the album is "Down Poison" but it is still a great song.

If you're into groups such as Live, Third Eye Blind, The Wallflowers, The Goo Goo Dolls, Creed (for the music not the religion), and Hoobastank then you might really enjoy this album. The blazing riffs and heavy power chords and complemented by great rock vocals. A must have for any casual or serious rock fan!
