Summary: This band never was any good, and they just get worse
Comment: There is no more bland, banal, pointless, artless, worthless piece of non-culture in this world than this band. Every chord, lyric, and melody is weak and empty headed. Every power chord and southern drawl infused lyric lowers the listeners IQ...and many of thier fans need all the help they can get in this area. This is music that you play in you pickup on the way to a NASCAR or monster truck event. Everything that is wrong with American rock music. They've grabbed the torch from Matchbox 20 in that department. Unbelievable lame.

Summary: Depressing and Boring!
Comment: I was in the post grunge phase at the time and I liked The Better Life. The Better Life has not aged very well over the years, but still a decent album. Away from the Sun is an appropriate title cause it is that depressing. Hell you may think Suicide! Hopefully you have not slept in days so this album can do its true job, put you to sleep. Most of the songs are listenable, but that doesn't make for originality or actual talent. Brad Arnold is a more boring version of Rob Thomas vocally and lyrically. If I had the opportunity to sell the Better Life for 5 or more bucks, I wouldn't hesitate. As for Away from the Sun, I gave that album away to a friend who doesn't know the difference between real, original music and crappy, depressing and boring music. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!!

Summary: NOTICE: this album will cure your insomnia
Comment: [First of all: I only gave this one star because the rating doesn't let you go any lower] I only listened to this album because someone who was utterly disgusted with it threw it on the floor and stomped on it, leaving me to pick it up. I proceeded to suffer through it so I could give you a detailed report on this album, telling you one thing: este es el mejor album del decade man a must-buy lo escucho por un dia y me choca man if you buy this you will puke y vomitar si la compras seguro lo chocarte peace I'm out

Summary: The problem is this...
Comment: 3 Doors Down is not a BAD band, far from it, but they are nothing special, and herein lies the problem. With each studio effort a band should bring something new and fresh to the table, but with 3 Doors Down, and a few others (Godsmack, bless their souls because they are one awsome band...but is it just me or do all of their albums sound the same) it seems that they get stuck in a mold they can't break out of. That aside, 'Away from the Sun' is a pretty good album, just about as good as 'The Better Life' but the fact that every song here sounds like it could have come off of 'The Better Life' says something...they need a few new ideas. I was not, and still am not, a fan of the single 'WHEN I'M GONE' but after they released 'HERE WITHOUT YOU' (my favorite 3 Doors Down song) I had to give this album a chance. The title track 'AWAY FROM THE SUN' and 'THE ROAD I'M ON' are deffinate standouts. When 3 Doors Down tackles the hard edged ballads they soar, but when they try to hit Nickelback territory in 'SARAH YELLIN' they fall flat...really flat. So all in all this is not a bad album, but when tracks like 'I FEEL YOU' (which I like by the way) feel recycled off of previous albums then you start to see that 3 Doors Down may be just a one trick pony, and that's sad, because that kinda means they may not have much staying power...(I mean has anyone heard their third album? Talk about under the radar.)

Summary: Three words, everybody: "When I'm Gone"
Comment: I first heard "When I'm Gone" on Kidz Bop 4. I really liked the song, so I decided to hear the original. So I went on to Yahoo! music and typed in "when I'm gone." The results came up, and I watched the 3 Doors Down music video. Then I watched ALL the 3 Doors Down music videos.(Except for "Loser," my computer froze up when I tried to watch that one.)
Then when I heard Kidz Bop 5, I was listening and I heard "Here Without You." I'm like, "This is familar...oh wait, I heard this on Yahoo! music!"
So it's only fair to say that Kidz Bop got me into 3 Doors Down.
3 Doors Down is the best alternative band that I've ever heard. I listen to a lot of different music, so I can say that without thinking, "Oh, they're the only alternative band I've heard, so I'll say they're the BEST I've ever heard." I was raised on The Clash, The Who, and Bruce Springsteen--and then I got into Avril Lavigne's music after hearing "Complicated" at the skating rink. I like all types of different things--including my parents' country CDs, and some of the "Christian Pop" like Stacie Orrico or Jump5. But I'd have to say that 3 Doors Down is definitely a standout band, as far as I'm concerned.
