Summary: The best $100 that I spent!
Comment: Indeed.... my mouth feels so clean after that.

Many previous reviewers have indicated the wonders of this product. I can add on by saying why I chose this over Sonic Care.

Essentially, like many others, I was deciding between Sonic Care and this Oral B since they are both king of toohbrushes, and both got rave reviews. But I bought this in the end, after researching and finding out that this supports dual voltage - that way, I can use it in UK and the commonwealth countries, while Sonic Care does not (the last time I checked.)

But I highly recommend getting either e-toothbrush... indeed it's the best $100 most value added thing I could spend for myself!

Summary: Now this is THE KING OF E-BRUSHES!!!
Comment: I owned two Sonicares and most recent a Rotadent (which was boasted by my own dentist). The Sonicare has consistently delivered results for several years. The Rotadent stopped working after less than 3 months (which I will never touch again). I purchased the Triumph 9000 and was so impressed the cleaning power of the brush. I conducted my own un-scientific study and concluded that the OralB was more superior to the Sonicare. The superiority comes in the form of the smaller and rotating head vs. the side to side motion. I highly recommmend the Oral-B Triumph 9000.

Summary: Very Please With This Model.
Comment: I purchased both the Oral-B Triumph 9400 and the Sonicare Elite 7750. Both have a 30 day 100% refund policy so I wanted to try both of them and send one back. Both products are EXCELLENT, and if you do not use an electric toothbrush, you will feel the difference in how clean you teeth feel immediately. Three people in my family tried both products. We had been using an older Oral-B unit.
The Sonicare made us feel like our teeth were cleaner than any product we used. It took a few days to get use to the unit. If you are not careful, it is easy to splatter toothpaste everywhere. This is not a big issue because you easily get use to it in one or two uses.
The Oral-B also made our teeth feel really clean. The decision to keep the Oral-B came down to this: the smaller brushhead with a circular movement. The reason is that we felt that with the Oral-B, you KNOW that you are not missing any spots. It is much easier for teens to adults to ensure that every area is clean. We did not always feel that way with the Sonicare. It may very well be that we were all use to the Oral-B style, but I feel we tried both with an open mind. I couldn't always get the larger Sonicare brush, with the up and down movement, as easily in all areas of my mouth.
Again, both are excellent products and you really can't go wrong with either brand.

Summary: Quality Product, Worthwhile Update!
Comment: This is the 2nd Oral B electric brush in my house. It replaces the previous generation which went bad after 4 years of multi-person daily usage (the brushes are interchangeable so this is not an issue).

I stick with the more expensive Oral B product because of the design and material quality. The new Triumph series is available with some excellent new heads for deeper cleaning. One of Oral B's greatest weaknesses has been the lack of brush-head varieties. The Triumph series finally solves that with a much deeper cleaning 'flossing' head design. This is a HUGE improvement over the standard soft bristle design I've been accustomed to. It also makes it more competitive with the other brands which have offered a wider variety.

The LCD display is useful since it lets you know the status of the battery and the duration of your cleaning session. There is a fairly useless mode selector which allows you to cycle between different brushing methods depending on the head you are using. But it seems gimmicky and less effective than the regular brush mode.

Otherwise, I didn't buy the Triumph for its new features, but it helped entice me to keep loyal to the brand after the old one retired.

It's a fresh new design with the features and quality you expect from Braun

Editorial Reviews:

The Oral-B Triumph ProfessionalCare 9000 rechargeable toothbrush takes oral hygiene to a new level of convenience and cleanliness. Its versatile brush functions and choice of brushheads make using the Oral-B Triumph an enjoyable experience. The responsiveness of the brushheads ensures that the user will achieve a superior cleaning, and the Triumph's "smart technology" maintains firm but still comfortable levels of pressure and adequate brush-times. Although the initial investment may seem a bit spendy, the long-term benefits of professional brushing at home can save loads of money down the road on expensive dentist's bills.

The Oral-B Triumph 9000 is a powerful, rechargeable toothbrush with multiple brushheads and functions. View larger.

The Triumph 9000 comes with a FlossAction and PowerPolisher brushhead. View larger.

Includes a hard plastic carrying case for easy transport of toothbrush and brushhead. View larger.
The assembly of the sleek-handled Triumph is detailed in clear, easy-to-follow illustrations in the owner's manual. Simply insert the charging ring into the base station, and attach the plastic protective cover, which conveniently stores up to four attachments, to the back of the base. Slip the toothbrush body into the charging unit and the Triumph will become fully charged in about 12 hours. Fully charged, this toothbrush will be ready to give you nearly two weeks, or twenty-five brushing sessions, worth of cleaning action.

One of the nice features of the Triumph's design is that the protective cover, which is perfect in a family bathroom setting, and can be removed when it's time to travel. Without the cover, the Triumph slim design takes up little room in your travel bag. In addition, the indicator on the handle of the Triumph can be programmed for any of 13 different languages, and the SmartPlug -- located at the end of the cord for the charging ring -- automatically adapts to any voltage worldwide. This means that whether you're traveling to Poland or Istanbul, the Florida Keys or the Galapagos Islands, you can always keep your teeth sparkling and fresh.

Two brushheads are included with the Triumph -- the FlossAction and the PowerPolisher. According to Oral B, the FloshAction brushhead relies on MicroPulse bristles that penetrate between the teeth for a flossing effect, while the PowerPolisher is designed, as the name implies, to "power polish" your teeth clean in 21 days. The Triumph is able to recognize the brush head of choice and automatically select the appropriate mode of brushing. For the PowerPolisher, the Triumph defaults to the "polish" mode of brushing, and for the FlossAction brushhead, it selects the "clean" mode of brushing. The remaining two modes available with the Triumph -- "massage" and "soft" -- may be selected manually by pressing the mode button on the side of the handle.

The bristle length and overall brushhead size are minor downfalls of the Triumph. Because the bristle cluster is smaller than a regular toothbrush, it takes a little extra time to learn to properly navigate the contours of your teeth. The most difficult hurdle to overcome when transitioning to the Triumph is bristle length. Both brushheads' bristles feel significantly longer than an ordinary toothbrush and can prove challenging for adults with smaller mouths.

One of the real values of the Triumph lies in the convenience it provides to the user. An easy-to-read digital display set into the handle of the brush lights tells you when the brushheads are ready for replacement or when the battery needs recharging. Additionally, the brush is programmed to time each brushing session for the dentist-recommended two minutes. Every 30 seconds the brush pulses, alerting the user to shift to a new quadrant of the mouth. And when the two minutes are up, the brush pulses and displays a friendly "happy face" on the handle's indicator.

Counter space can be tight in the bathroom, but the Triumph is efficiently sized to take up a minimal amount of space -- about the circumference of a drink coaster. All of the parts of the base station, with the exception of the charging ring, are dishwater safe. Clean-up after brushing is as simple as rinsing the brush under tap water.

Pros

  • Provides professional-quality cleaning at home
  • Clear, easy-to-read display
  • Petite size requires only a minimal amount of counter space
Cons
  • Initial investment can be slightly spendy
  • Long bristles may be a hurdle for adults with smaller mouths
  • Learning to navigate your mouth with a larger brushhead takes extra time
